Reporting in for my 7-month Anniversary

Hello, everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I’m doing as well as can be expected. 🙂 My new lifestyle of eating mainly like a rabbit is going strong still despite my desire from time to time to eat melted CHEESE and yummy MEAT dishes. Oh, and we mustn’t forget my hankering for jjajang myun and other flour-based noodles!

Fear not. I am managing to resist for the sake of my health. 🙂

I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. As I feel better, I am allowing myself the luxury of getting more involved with the youth group again. Poor little minions! They have certainly felt the effects of my recovery as I took a back seat and allowed others to do things in my stead or simply let things idle while I heal.

And then there’s work. I am currently in the third year of my four-year probational tenure process, and it’s been a challenge to keep up with my teaching responsibilities and the “extracurricular” duties expected of full-time faculty. These days, I’ve been staying at the office until 9pm in order to try to get a handle on the grading since little Bentley makes it difficult to grade at home. Poor little poochie. As soon as I get home, he wants to stick to my side–more often, lap–for as long as he can. Yeah, grading can be a challenge when a canine insists on napping on your lap. 😉

All in all, though, I continue to be thankful to God for this wake-up call. I’d like to think that this health scare prevented even more serious health concerns from popping up in the future. This “reset” to my life, as I like to call it, has been certainly eye-opening. Hopefully, with the modifications that I’ve made to my life, I’ll continue to be cancer-free for the rest of my life and live until a ripe old age of 90! 😉

I’ll be back for the one-year anniversary update in March 2018. At that time, I should be able to give you an update on my follow-up mammogram and report that I am still cancer free! 🙂
